Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Complete Western's Housing Agreement, which is a contract stating you plan to live on campus from your move-in date through the end of the academic year. Wi-Fi is included in your room rate throughout the residence halls, though wireless routers are prohibited on the network.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Move-in runs Sept 17-19, 2026. Sign up for your scheduled move-in date and time through the MyHousing portal, which opens mid-August.
- Check-in location
- Report to your community's check-in tent (North, Ridge, or South) and wait in the car line - Birnam Wood residents check in separately at their own community. Bring a government-issued photo ID and know your building/room number.
- Parking
- Free parking during move-in in the West C lot. A vehicle tag is required in the unload zone, and you must leave one person with your vehicle at all times during unloading. After unloading, move your vehicle to the C-lots for long-term parking. Avoid fire lanes outside the designated 9am-4pm move-in window to prevent tickets.
- What you'll receive
- Staff approach your vehicle at the check-in tent to verify your ID, check you in, and hand over a vehicle tag plus your keys/fob - you won't need to get out of the car for check-in itself.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Only vehicles that have gone through the check-in line are allowed to check in, and one person must remain with the vehicle at all times while it's being unloaded.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
