Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Sign up for a two-hour move-in time slot once you have a residence hall assignment. First-year students are required to live in a University residence hall. Pre-order your MicroFridge (the only microwave approved for WVU residence halls) - consider splitting the cost with your roommate. Registration for a time slot opens in early June and closes Aug. 6. Bring only a single vehicle - multiple vehicles, trailers, or U-Hauls can't be accommodated at residence hall unloading zones.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Move-in runs Thursday, Aug. 13 through Saturday, Aug. 15, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m., in two-hour time slots for each residence hall - reserve yours through the housing portal starting in early June.
- Check-in location
- Boreman North/South, Honors Hall, and Lincoln Hall each check in at their own hall's front desk to receive your key.
- Parking
- Once unloaded, move your vehicle to the designated short-term lot for your hall (2-hour maximum), then relocate off-campus (the Coliseum or a downtown parking garage) as soon as move-in is complete.
- What you'll receive
- Your keys (if applicable) and Mountaineer ID at your hall's front desk, plus a copy of the room condition report to review.
- Vehicle restrictions
- A single 90-minute parking pass (1 vehicle) for short-term lots is provided at your residence hall check-in desk if needed.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
