The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's campus along the Chippewa River began in 1916 with a single building - originally called Old Main, now Schofield Hall - and requires first-year students to live on campus, most commonly in Towers Hall, an upper campus high-rise built during a 1960s expansion.

Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Sign up for your move-in date and time online through your housing assignment information, sent in early June. Bring your own rubber mallet for loft setup if possible, though they're also available for checkout at the front desk. Fall semester classes begin September 2, 2026 - freshmen are required to live on campus.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Sign up for your specific move-in timeslot online, using the assignment information sent to your UWEC email in early June - move-in specific parking instructions are also emailed ahead of the weekend.
- Check-in location
- Report to the front of your assigned residence hall during your registered timeslot, where staff will check you in and verify your emergency contact information.
- Parking
- No parking permit is required during move-in weekend itself - hall-specific parking maps are provided for Bridgman; Governors, Horan, and Sutherland; Murray; and Towers North/South. Personal carts or dollies are highly recommended given long wait times, and move-in bins are also available from your assigned hall.
- What you'll receive
- Your room key or door combination is issued at check-in. Loft-setup tutorial videos are available ahead of time if you plan to loft your bed - bring your own rubber mallet if possible, though they're also available for checkout at the front desk.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Watch your UWEC email for the move-in-specific parking instructions sent ahead of the weekend.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
