UVM's Move-In Guide provides building-specific driving directions and colored hangtags for each residence hall's designated unloading lot. New Student Orientation begins the same day as move-in and is mandatory for all incoming first-year, transfer, international, and exchange students, continuing through August 30.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- First-year and transfer students move in Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27, 2026. Returning students move in Sunday, August 30.
- Check-in location
- Check-in location depends on your residence hall's campus area: North Campus (Trinity) residents turn into McAuley Circle and go to the front desk; Central Campus residents check in at the CCRH front desk; Athletic Campus residents check in at tents; Redstone Campus residents check in at Redstone Hall.
- Parking
- Each campus area issues its own color-coded hangtag for temporary move-in parking, with directions to longer-term parking facilities including Gutterson Garage and the Delehanty, Jeffords, and Votey lots.
- What you'll receive
- Your room key, plus a furnished space with a desk, chair, dresser, XL twin bed with mattress, bed safety rail, overhead light, window blinds, an internet jack, and a recycle bin already in place.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
