Please do not book travel before finalizing your room reservation - move-in days and times are appointed based on your specific residence hall and floor. Residents should arrive at their given time and proceed directly to the Ray Olpin Student Union for check-in. If you are unable to arrive during your assigned time, informal move-in is available Aug. 22-23, though university move-in assistance staff will not be present those days. Fall 2026 classes begin Monday, Aug. 24. TRAX and shuttles run throughout the move-in period to take you back to your residence hall and help you finish unpacking.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Arrive at your given appointment time and proceed directly to the Ray Olpin Student Union for check-in - follow signage to park in designated HDP check-in parking areas.
- Check-in location
- The Ray Olpin Student Union (200 S, Central Campus Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84112).
- Parking
- After checking in, head to your area's unloading zone or designated waiting area. Due to very limited space, vehicles roll up, unload, and roll out - staff are onsite to assist. Then move your vehicle to the Rice Eccles Stadium Lot or the 305 South Chipeta Parking Garage for the duration of the move-in period.
- What you'll receive
- Check-in at the Union, followed by move-in assistance and support staff scheduled at your residence hall to help facilitate your arrival.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Students who bring a car to campus need to purchase a virtual parking permit through Commuter Services - vehicles moving to residential lots can do so beginning Aug. 22 with the appropriate parking pass.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
