Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Time slots run 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in 30-minute increments, booked through the housing portal. A separate Early Move-In option (Aug. 7) exists for preapproved groups only. Rolling carts are available for checkout with a photo ID; bringing a hand truck, dolly, or wagon is strongly encouraged. Residents of Women's Quad, Rutledge, Pinckney/Legare, and Patterson Hall access their room with their CarolinaCard and a 4-digit PIN rather than a physical key.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Arrive at your building at your scheduled date and time - early arrivals are redirected to an exit lane to wait; late arrivals should call the Resident Assistant on duty using the number posted on the front door of each residence hall.
- Check-in location
- Your building zone is listed on your printable move-in pass in the Housing Portal - at your community's unloading zone, guests can begin unloading while the student enters the building to check in.
- Parking
- After cars are unloaded, move them to parking areas found on the ParkUSC app.
- What you'll receive
- Your room key at check-in - bring your Carolina Card to pick it up.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Due to parking garages, hills, and other campus obstacles, large box trucks, trailers, car toppers, and recreational vehicles are not allowed in move-in traffic patterns - USCPD and parking attendants will turn these away. Each student may bring one vehicle through the unloading zones at a time.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
