The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, founded in 1911 as the College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, centers on Edificio José de Diego, its 1913 administration building named for a campus co-founder, with limited on-campus housing available through Hotel Colegial, one of only three dormitories across the entire 11-campus UPR System.

UPRM's own admissions process runs through the same island-wide portal (admisiones.upr.edu) shared across all 11 University of Puerto Rico System campuses. On-campus housing here is extremely limited - Hotel Colegial's upper floors house high-performance athletes year-round, leaving a limited number of rooms for general students and visitors - so most students commute or arrange off-campus housing; confirm your options early. Classes at UPRM are primarily taught in Spanish, with a moderate understanding of English also required to enroll.

- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.

- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
