Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Self-Serve Move-In is available for any student in any hall after 6 p.m. (no curbside unloading), while Curbside Move-In applies to specific halls including Abel, Sandoz, Kauffman Academic Residential Center, Selleck, and Village - non-first-year students in these halls must sign up in advance for the curbside experience. UNL partners with Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) to offer bedding, storage, and other room essentials that can be shipped directly to your assigned hall. Register your bicycle with the UNL Police Department - bike racks are located adjacent to all residence halls.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Move-in runs August 16-19, with extended self-serve options available through August 20 and beyond; Curbside Move-In requires an advance sign-up for specific halls.
- Check-in location
- Curbside Move-In participants report to Memorial Stadium for initial check-in before proceeding to their residence hall; Self-Serve students go directly to their assigned hall.
- Parking
- Temporary parking is available in lots and garages adjacent to residence halls during move-in, excluding faculty/staff and reserved spaces; permanent semester permits are purchasable through UNL Parking & Transit Services.
- What you'll receive
- Housing-related information and swag at the Memorial Stadium check-in station.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Only one vehicle per student is permitted for curbside unloading; U-Hauls, trailers, and campers aren't permitted. Additional vehicles are directed to nearby lots, with occupants transporting their own materials.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
