Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Students are required to sign up for a check-in timeslot in advance to ensure a smooth arrival on move-in day - please do this before making final travel arrangements. University of Idaho requires all full-time, first-year students under 21 to live in an organized living group officially recognized by the university (residence halls, fraternities, or sororities).

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Check-in begins Wednesday, Aug. 19 - select your specific timeslot at iwanthousing.uidaho.edu ahead of arrival.
- Check-in location
- Check in at your assigned residence hall's designated entrance (for example, Wallace Residence Center's Ballard Wing or Gooding Wing side entrances) - international students and Living Learning Community residents check in at separate locations.
- Parking
- Temporary unloading zones near each hall are marked on the official move-in map - someone should stay with the vehicle while unloading, then move it to an allocated parking lot once finished.
- What you'll receive
- Housing and Residence Life provides move-in carts and moving dollies to help haul your belongings in - these must be returned after use. Meal plan service begins at noon on move-in day.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
