University of Alaska Southeast's main Juneau campus sits on Auke Bay, centered on the William A. Beginning Fall 2026, all undergraduate students receive automatic in-state tuition regardless of home state - no extra steps or forms required. New students this year arrived from nearly 30 different states, so expect a genuinely diverse move-in crowd. Juneau's remote, rain-prone climate is a real consideration - orientation in recent years has taken place under active rainfall, so pack accordingly for a wet coastal Alaska arrival.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- In recent years move-in to housing has begun at 9 a.m. on the Thursday before orientation, so confirm your exact date with UAS Housing.
- Check-in location
- John Pugh Hall residents check in at the John Pugh Hall front desk. All other residents check in at the front desk in the Housing Lodge (apartments and Banfield Hall). Staff issue your key after confirming your paperwork and contact information are complete.
- Parking
- UAS has offered a free shuttle from the ferry dock and the airport to housing on move-in day only, with a request form to reserve a spot because seats are limited.
- What you'll receive
- You'll get your unit key at check-in. Beds are twin extra-long and no linens or pillows are provided, so bring bedding and a mattress pad. John Pugh Hall units include a refrigerator and microwave; apartments include a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. Bring plates, bowls, and silverware, plus cookware if you're in an apartment.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
