Fall 2026 Move-In Details

Check your UAB email for your specific designated move-in date and time. Completion of an online housing training module is required before check-in. All first-time freshmen are required to live on campus for the entire academic year, with an exemption process available for extenuating circumstances.

Move-in day logistics

Arrival window
Move-in days run August 19-23, 2026; students receive their specific designated move-in date and time slot through myHousing.
Check-in location
Check in at your assigned residence hall (Gold, Blazer, or McMahon Hall); approach campus via University Boulevard and stay in the right lane approaching 16th Street South.
Parking
Park at the 16th Street Parking Deck during unloading, then move your vehicle back to the 16th Street Deck once unloaded.
Vehicle restrictions
One person must stay with the vehicle while others unload; students have 20-30 minutes to unload before relocating to the parking deck.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
