Move-In

Fall 2026 Move-In Details

First-year and transfer students move in on Thursday, August 27, the first day of a three-day orientation. On move-in day, faculty, staff, and fellow students help unload your car as soon as you arrive. Every fall sports team - well over 300 student-athletes - along with resident assistants and orientation leaders, typically turn out to support the move-in effort. Commuting students check in the same day and join a welcome lunch.

Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time - your exact move-in date is shown above in the Overview.

Move-in day logistics

Arrival window
Thursday, Aug. 27.
Check-in location
Volunteers unload your car when you arrive, and your hall assignment and move-in email will point you to the right building.
What you'll receive
A furnished room: extra-long twin bed, storage closet, desk, chair and a shared dresser (Joan of Arc Hall rooms have no shared dresser but include an in-room sink). Joseph Hall is newly renovated with central air conditioning.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
