Refer to your housing assignment confirmation email for the exact date and time of your specific check-in day. When you arrive, check in at your hall and then stop by the Office of Housing and Residential Life in Fidel Suite 253 to have your ID card encoded if needed. New students check in the Sunday a week before classes begin; returning students choose rooms the Saturday before classes. No early arrivals are allowed without prior written approval from the Housing office. Most undergraduate students are required to carry a campus meal plan to reside in University Housing.

- Arrival window
- New students check in on Sunday, August 9, the Sunday a week before classes begin. Your assignment confirmation in the Housing Portal shows your exact date and time. Early arrivals need prior written approval from the Housing office.
- Check-in location
- Check in at your assigned hall, then go to the Office of Housing and Residential Life in Fidel Suite 253 to have your ID card encoded if needed.
- Parking
- There are no reserved parking spaces and parking on campus is free.
- What you'll receive
- Your ID card is encoded at the Housing office. The NMT packing list covers what to bring.
- Vehicle restrictions
- If you live on campus, you're required to register your vehicle so the university can contact you if it needs to be moved.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
