Campus meal service is required for freshman students living in residence halls. Students arriving after 4 p.m. on the main move-in day historically check in at the Garcia Hall service desk instead of their assigned hall.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Move-in is August 15-16, 2026. Select your check-in timeslot through the MyHousing portal - assignments are emailed to your NMSU email by August 3.
- Check-in location
- Use the move-in maps to find your hall's check-in location and have your Aggie ID or photo ID ready - friends and family cannot pick up keys on a student's behalf.
- Parking
- Unload your vehicle quickly and courteously, then park in the nearest parking lot once you're done.

- Vehicle restrictions
- It's hot in Las Cruces in mid-August, so plan to stay hydrated; water is provided at check-in locations.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
