Lincoln University's hilltop campus in Jefferson City, founded in 1866 by African-American Civil War veterans as Missouri's first Black university, houses first-year students primarily in Dawson Hall, a 10-story residence hall that reopened in 2025 after a $23 million renovation.

Fall 2026 Move-In Details

Check-in for new students runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Jason Gymnasium, where campus offices are also on hand to help with any administrative needs the same day. ROAR Orientation, Lincoln's required orientation program, is a continuation of summer registration and begins the same day as move-in. Roar Agents (sophomores and above) are available throughout the day to help freshmen get to and from buildings.

Wednesday, August 12, anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Check-in location
Check in at Jason Gymnasium, where you pick up your dorm key. Campus offices are also there the same day to help with things like transcripts, course registration, room and board status, financial services, and academic advising.
What you'll receive
You'll get your dorm key at check-in. Roar Agents (sophomore volunteers and up) help you find your way around. Rooms are mostly double occupancy.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
