Housing assignments are released in mid-July, followed by roommate contact information in late July - use this window to coordinate who's bringing shared items like a fridge or microwave. Saturday's schedule includes New Student Check-in and the Fall Orientation Kick-off at the Lowry Center, meetings with your Orientation Group and Community Advisors, and a dessert reception for families that evening. Gambier is a small village absorbing an entire incoming class in a single morning - arrive early and expect to park farther than you'd like.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Saturday, August 22, with New Student Check-In in the morning (in past years it has run 9 a.m. to noon). Confirm your exact window in your orientation materials.
- Check-in location
- New Student Check-In is at the Multi-Activity Court in the Lowry Center, where you pick up your room key before heading to your residence hall and the Fall Orientation Kick-off.
- Parking
- Parking is available during check-in, but Gambier is a small village absorbing the whole incoming class in one morning, so arrive early and expect to park some distance from the Lowry Center. Confirm specific lots in your orientation materials.
- What you'll receive
- You'll pick up your room key at check-in. Rooms include an extra-long twin bed (height adjustable and can be lofted), desk and chair, wardrobe, dresser, trash can, window blinds or curtains, and an overhead light. College furniture should not be removed from rooms. Fridges up to 4.8 cubic feet and microwaves up to 900 watts are allowed, so coordinate with your roommate.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
