Residents can log into the Resident Portal to reserve a check-in appointment. Early arrival (Aug. 16 or 18) is available for an additional fee of $55.00 per day prior to the official opening. Sorority recruitment and marching band students should follow the specific move-in details sent directly to them, given their separate, earlier schedules.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Residence halls officially open Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Reserve your specific check-in appointment through the Resident Portal as soon as it's available, since popular times fill quickly - you can change your day and time until 5 p.m. the day before arrival.
- Check-in location
- Follow your assigned residence hall's move-in map (provided as a PDF for each hall) to your check-in point on arrival.
- Parking
- Print your appointment confirmation and display it on your dashboard during move-in - this temporary permit is valid only on the day of your appointment. If staying for the semester, purchase a permanent Residence Hall parking permit from K-State Parking Services; bicycles can be registered for free.
- What you'll receive
- Apply for your Wildcat OneCard at least one business day before arrival so it's ready when you check in.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Bring your own cart or dolly if you can, since the department has limited moving equipment available on-site.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
