Fall 2026 Move-In Details
New students receive their randomized room selection date by email, so ensure your MyIllinoisState account has an up-to-date address on file. Students enrolled and required to live on campus for the 2026-27 academic year need written approval from University Housing Services to cancel a signed contract. Watch for the first cancellation deadline in your housing communication to avoid unnecessary charges.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Move-In runs Tuesday, August 11 through Saturday, August 15; specific check-in details and timing vary by residence hall.
- Check-in location
- Watterson Towers checks in at canopy tents on the south side (or the circle drive doors if weather requires); Hewett-Manchester checks in at the Escalante Conference Room in the Vrooman Lobby; Tri-Towers halls each have a check-in station in their own lobby; Cardinal Court checks in at the Community Center nearest Gregory Street; Fell-School Apartments residents check in at Hewett-Manchester before heading to their units.
- Parking
- Watterson residents park temporarily in the Watterson lot to unload, then relocate to long-term parking; Tri-Towers residents park around the building and move to lot S-81 north of Wright Hall after unloading; Cardinal Court residents unload nearby and relocate to the lot behind Dogwood Hall. Do not block entrances, exits, transit routes, or other parked vehicles anywhere on campus.
- What you'll receive
- Room keys, issued at check-in upon presenting a Redbird ID or state ID. Move-in carts are available on a weather-dependent basis, or you may bring your own.
- Vehicle restrictions
- No trailers allowed.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
