Move-in carts cannot be reserved in advance but can be checked out from the Harbin 104 Key Room. Parking is not permitted near residential facilities on weekdays. Worth noting: this move-in weekend coincides with the Freedom 250 Grand Prix on the National Mall - expect heavier-than-usual DC traffic and limited hotel availability if traveling from out of town.

Move-in day logistics

Arrival window
Assigned 30-minute arrival windows, viewable in advance on the Hoya Housing portal.
Check-in location
Proceed through the vehicle queue to the unloading zone outside your assigned residence hall; move-in aides help unload belongings into labeled carts.
Parking
Parking is not permitted near residential facilities on weekdays - use the Southwest Garage. After unloading, complimentary two-hour parking is available elsewhere on campus.

A dashboard sign, sent in advance for vehicle identification, plus move-in aide assistance unloading belongings into labeled carts.
Vehicle restrictions
Each student is permitted to bring only one vehicle; avoid oversized vehicles or roof racks, as they won't fit in Georgetown's on-campus garages.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
