Move-In
Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Specific shift assigned by hall and floor - check your assignment email. Main check-in at Minges Coliseum, then vehicles queue near your residence hall. An optional Drop-Off period (July 30 - Aug. 1) lets you set up early and return home until classes start. You may arrive any time after your designated window, but arriving before it results in an early check-in charge billed to your student account, with move-in support and parking potentially limited. If you can't make your designated window, after-hours and weekend move-in is available at your neighborhood's Service Office instead.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time - your exact move-in date is shown above in the Overview.
Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Arrive during your assigned Move-In date and time frame, determined by your residence hall and in some cases your specific floor - these windows limit wait times and maximize parking and elevator use.
- Check-in location
- Minges Coliseum ('Hall of Fame'), accessed from Charles Boulevard - students check in and get their key here.
- Parking
- After checking in, you'll get a Move-In vehicle pass for each vehicle, then queue near Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium until a parking space opens near your hall. Once unloaded, move vehicles to the remote parking areas per the directions on the back of your pass.
- What you'll receive
- Your room key and a Move-In vehicle pass for each vehicle, issued at Minges Coliseum check-in.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Please do not go directly to your hall without lining up in the Move-In queue first - queued vehicles are sent to the unloading area only when parking spaces are open.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
