Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Many incoming first-year students participate in Expedition Alaska shortly after arriving, spending up to 18 days on the Yukon River as part of the university's own experiential learning tradition. APU is primarily a residential campus - all students are required to live on campus for their first two academic years. This specific date should be confirmed directly with APU's Housing office closer to move-in.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- In recent years, move-in day has run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day of orientation, which starts on a Thursday.
- Check-in location
- In recent years, central check-in has been in the Atwood Center lobby, where you check in, meet your RAs, and move into your room. North Atwood Hall is the main first-year hall.
- Parking
- Parking passes are free and come from Campus Safety. Each residence hall has its own parking area.
- What you'll receive
- Your new student ID is printed at check-in. Move-in day also includes tours and activities, a free lunch, an Expedition Alaska information session, a salmon barbecue dinner, and a mandatory all-hall meeting for on-campus residents.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Parking passes for residents are free through Campus Safety.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
